Jensen Huang, the CEO of multinational tech company Nvidia, has made a second celebratory journey to Vietnam. This trip comes as part of his commitment to making Vietnam Nvidia’s “second home.” During his visit, Huang met with the prime minister and enjoyed a Hanoi food tour, partaking in the capital’s exemplary culinary scene.
Nvidia: A Global Tech and Business Leader
As reported by Forbes, Jensen Huang is the CEO and president of Nvidia Corporation, a global provider of GPUs. He co-founded the graphics chip developer in 1993. Nvidia went public in 1993, and Huang owns approximately 3% of company stocks. Today, he has a net worth of around $17.3 billion.
Nvidia has experienced immense growth under Huang’s leadership. Nvidia’s GPUs grew to dominate the gaming industry. Now that developing AI technologies have induced greater demand for powerful processors, Nivdia’s market cap has soared past $3 trillion.
Vietnam to Be Nvidia’s “Second Home”
According to Lao Dong, Huang met with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 5th to witness the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Vietnamese Government and Nvidia Corporation on their cooperation in establishing the NVIDIA Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development Center and the AI Data Center in Vietnam.
This meeting marked the second time that the prime minister welcomed the senior leaders of Nvidia Corporation. He asked Nvidia Corporation to continue closely coordinating with the National Innovation Center, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and leading technology enterprises and technical universities in Vietnam.
Huang responded enthusiastically to the agreement and committed to making Vietnam a “second home” for Nvidia. “Artificial intelligence is an extraordinary opportunity for Vietnam,” Huang stated. “Vietnam’s strong encouragement and support for this field will be a big push to build an artificial intelligence ecosystem for Vietnam, and Nvidia and I will be your partner, your friend on every step, every journey of artificial intelligence.”
Jensen Huang Enjoys Local Hanoi Cuisine
After the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Huang and the executive team of Nvidia to enjoy Hanoi street food, as reported by Vietnam.VN.
The group visited a beer house on Ta Hien Street, with a menu that included nem tai (ear spring rolls), nem chua ran (fried spring rolls), boneless chicken feet marinated in lemongrass and chili, shredded grilled squid, french fries, fried tofu with onions, and Truc Bach beer. The prime minister and prominent CEO’s appearance attracted crowds of locals and tourists.
Huang also sought the famous egg coffee at Giang Cafe, a drink he enjoyed during his previous visit to Vietnam. At a meeting of around 100 AI and tech experts, Huang savored the popular beverage and practiced making his own for attendees to drink.
The Nvidia CEO continued to partake of local cuisine during his visit. He enjoyed beef pho at a long-standing restaurant on Bat Dan Street, where he selected rare beef and fried breadsticks. As one of the first pho restaurants in Hanoi, Bat Dan Street has operated for over 100 years and has been featured by international media groups such as CNN.
Nvidia’s Embrace of Vietnam
Although Huang is a Taiwanese American, he is not unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine. During his previous visit, he enjoyed a pho tray at Hang Non, a duck hotpot at Hang Thiec, bun thang, egg coffee on Nguyen Huu Huan Street, and more.
As Huang enthusiastically embraces Vietnamese cuisine and culture, the global tech corporation further establishes its ties to the country. With the signing of the agreement between the Vietnamese government and Nvidia Corporation for establishing the Nvidia AI Research and Development Center and the AI Data Center in Vietnam, the country solidifies its attraction for the multinational corporation and the potential to become a major developer in AI.
